Grants

Free Money!

Grants, like Scholarships, are a form of financial aid that does not have to be repaid (that’s right, free money!). They are typically allocated based on need as determined by the FAFSA.

Unlike Scholarships, there isn't much you can do to get grants other than applying. They are typically given to you because of who you are, rather than how good of an essay you can write. Grants include the Federal Pell Grant, for lower-income applicants, State Grants, Institutional Grants, Private and Employer Grants:

Grants can be a great source of financial aid, particularly if you come from a low-income family.
