Is it legal for a 17-year-old student to sign student loan promissory notes, even though the student is not yet an adult?

Answer

In nearly any other circumstance, minors are not accountable for contracts.  In terms of college, any eligible student may sign the promissory notes for his or her federal loans, as per the Higher Education Act.
