Summers begin to look different when you've decided to take classes rather than a break. Instead of focusing on exchanging spring clothes for summer clothes, you may be focused on exchanging one notebook for another and arranging summer classes. It's a good thing the process for receiving summer financial aid is consistent with receiving aid during other semesters.

As with other times of the year, to receive financial aid for the summer, you must, first, complete your Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). The FAFSA application will ask, "For what school year are you applying for student aid?" If you desire to attend school during the summer of 2016, for example, you must mark the 2016-2017 school year. It is important to be aware of all deadlines.

In addition, communicating with your school's financial aid office is pertinent when applying for summer financial aid. You will need to consult your school's financial aid office on any of the following: to confirm whether or not you need to fill out special forms such as the Summer Intent Form or the Summer Financial Aid Application, deadlines for all summer aid paperwork and how many credit hours you must take for the summer in order to be eligible for summer financial aid. You may even want to consult a financial aid advisor, especially if one is available at your school. They will be able to give you more one on one help as you apply for summer financial aid.

Even more so, your school's financial aid office will be able to inform you about any scholarships it offers to students for the summer. Some schools, unfortunately, do not offer scholarships or grants for the summer. However, if your school does, you want to be sure you are careful to meet any and all deadlines for these awards, also.

If you find you need further help with applying for or receiving summer financial aid, please do not hesitate to contact our financial Aid consultants who can help with this process. We take you through each step necessary to fill out all applications for the summer, with our financial aid solutions.

Although summers may look different when you are taking classes, they can go a lot smoother once you follow the steps of completing your FAFSA, communicating closely with your school and even contacting professionals regarding financial aid solutions for further help.
